AFS Texas Annual Golf Outing Read Our Review
This annual event is the major fund raising event for the Leonard P. Rigamonti Memorial scholarship and endowment fund.
SYNCHRO ERP are proud to be gold level sponsors of this event
Texas AFS provides scholarships to university and college students in helping to offset the high costs of advanced education. Many of the students are enrolled at Texas State University in San Marcos Texas where Dr. Laura Bartlett Ph.D. is an assistant professor in the Foundry and Heat Treatment program. This is the only metalcasting specific program in Texas. Several Texas State University students attended the event and I had the pleasure of being seated for dinner with students from Brangladesh, Nigeria, and Arlington Texas!

The golf outing and dinner were very well attended, in spite of economic difficulties in the metalcasting industry brought about by unusually low oil prices which has impacted Texas metalcasters very hard. However, members of the AFS Texas Chapter realize the importance of education which is the lifeblood of future generations of metalcasters. As one speaker noted, once a student has been mesmerized my liquid metal, they are hooked.
Until next time, see you on down the road in Minneapolis Minnesota at the 2016 CASTEXPO. As always, be safe out there.

Main Stream
Metalcasting has its origins traced back over five-thousand years. I have serious doubts that even the most enlightened and envisioned metalcaster of lore could even fathom what today’s metalcasting is all about.
