Elite Flag Ship Centre for Manufacturing UK
Elite Centre - Foundry Spoke (image above)
Funding has now been approved for a flagship Elite Centre for Manufacturing Skills (ECMS), due to open for business in August 2017.
This new Centre includes a new teaching foundry and associated patternshop, design suite and sand/met labs which will be used to support the training of the next generation of foundrymen and castings engineers - the so called 'Casting the Future Foundry Spoke'.
Clearly this is a very exciting development for our industry and we would welcome your support and input.
We are now looking to source equipment for melting, casting, moulding, sand reclamation, finishing and patternmaking as well as for additive manufacturing - indeed everything that you would expect to see in a modern teaching facility for foundry technicians.
Summary Post Event
The event was well attended;
Chris Colllins MD for SYNCHRO ERP said their was a great positive energy for the project; SYNCHRO offered to supply the Specific ERP system free of charge if the center intends to use an all essential integrated suite ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning)
In this day and age systems are a necessity for all casting manufaturer's. After all you cannot measure what you don't track.
Take a look at the link for the CMF summary of the event.

The Allotment
2019 has been a better year for the vegetable patch – primarily because there has been an unbroken water supply unlike last year when there was little or no water for a 6 week period.
It is now not only the very warm part of the year – we are around 40c every day – but the vegetables are ripe and ready.

Three Peaks Challenge!
So I will start with a little background. My younger sister Ellie has been very interested in basketball since she was five years old. At six she was signed up to a local basketball club, Redditch Basketball, run by Dave Bradshaw in our local area, he accepted Ellie joining the team however she was much younger and smaller than anyone else. This didn’t stop Ellie she worked hard and attended many training sessions and games, to begin with she may only have played a few minutes when it came to match days, as you can imagine as a little female six year old she was playing with older boys who towered over her. But it didn’t take long before basketball became much more than fun. ..
