Lets talk Christmas films ..

Posted on in Blog
One of the things that make Christmas in our home is….CHRISTMAS FILMS! I have gathered together my favourite films and I have thrown a couple of new 2022 films for us all to try together!

1.    A classic and my all time favourite has got to be…Elf!

Elf is an American Christmas comedy film directed by Jon Favreau and written by David Berenbaum. It stars Will Ferrell as the title character, a human raised by Santa's elves, who learns about his origins and heads to New York City to meet his biological father. It is currently available to watch on NOW TV (SUBSCRIPTION REQUIRED) rated PG.

2.    In close second it has to be…How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

How The Grinch Stole Christmas is based on every Who down in Whoville really likes Christmas. However, the Whos dislike the Grinch, a misanthropic green creature who lives in a cave on nearby Mount Crumpit, north of Whoville, because of his mean-spiritedness, especially during the holiday season. It is currently available to watch on NETFLIX (SUBSCRIPTION REQUIRED) rated PG.

3.    Another classic for us is…The Polar Express.

On Christmas Eve, a passenger train known as the Polar Express stops at the Grand Rapids, Michigan house of a boy who is growing sceptical about the existence of Santa Claus. It is currently available to watch on NOW TV (SUBSCRIPTION REQUIRED) rated U.

4.    December wouldn’t be the same without…Miracle on 34th Street.

Six-year-old Susan Walker is sceptical of the Christmas myth surrounding Santa Claus, a trait she perhaps learned from her mother, Dorey. When tasked with hiring the Santa who will pose with kids at Macy's, Dorey enlists a man with the curious name of Kris Kringle who claims to be Santa himself. His assertions are met with scoffs and threats of institutionalization, but a young lawyer, along with Susan and Dorey, comes to his defence. . It is currently available to watch on DISNEY+ (SUBSCRIPTION REQUIRED) rated U.

5.    I don’t think I need to say much more…Home Alone.

When bratty 8-year-old Kevin McCallister acts out the night before a family trip to Paris, his mother makes him sleep in the attic. After the McCallisters mistakenly leave for the airport without Kevin, he awakens to an empty house and assumes his wish to have no family has come true. But his excitement sours when he realizes that two con men plan to rob the McCallister residence, and that he alone must protect the family home. It is currently available to watch on DISNEY+ (SUBSCRIPTION REQUIRED) rated PG.

6.    After years of preforming for school Christmas plays this film gives me that warm feeling inside…Nativity!

A primary school teacher, who was once a failed actor in a former career, is given the task of directing the school's Nativity play, which doesn't have a positive track record. Attitudes change however, when it transpires that a Hollywood producer is coming to film the play. It is currently available to watch on Netflix (SUBSCRIPTION REQUIRED) rated U.

7.    Christmas isn’t complete without a feel good romance…The Holiday.

Dumped and depressed, English rose Iris agrees to swap homes with similarly unlucky in love Californian Amanda for a much-needed break. Iris finds herself in a palatial Hollywood mansion while Amanda navigates the lanes of a picture-perfect English village. Soon enough, both lovelorn ladies bump into local lads perfect for a romantic pick-me-up. It is currently available to watch on Amazon Prime Video (SUBSCRIPTION REQUIRED) rated PG-13.

8.    A new film for 2022 is…Scrooge: A Christmas Carol.

On Christmas Eve miserly businessman Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley and the spirits of Christmas past, present and future in the hope that he will learn the error of his ways. It is available to watch on Netflix from December 2nd (SUBSCRIPTION REQUIRED) rated PG.

9.    Also on my list for this year…The Christmas Chronicles.

Siblings Kate and Teddy Pierce hatch a scheme to capture Santa Claus on Christmas Eve. When the plan goes awry, the kids join forces with a somewhat jolly Saint Nick and his loyal elves to save the holiday before it's too late. It is currently available to watch on Netflix (SUBSCRIPTION REQUIRED) rated PG.

10.  Finally on my list is…Office Christmas Party!

When the CEO tries to close her hard-partying brother's branch, he and his chief technical officer must rally their co-workers and host an epic office Christmas party in an effort to impress a potential client and close a sale that will save their jobs. It is currently available to watch on Netflix (SUBSCRIPTION REQUIRED) rated 15.

    Changes they are Afoot

The orderly and peaceful transition of power is complete and metalcasters are now focused on what the new administration can do for the industry. No doubt at the top of the list is the OSHA, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, crystalline silica rule.
