From a Tree to a Bear
I watched as this bear was carved from a tree, with a chainsaw, firstly. Then using various chisels and tools, to get the effect of the fur.
The wood was scorched and stained for the colouration. It seems that the carver sees something in the original piece of wood, a tree trunk in this case that encourage the figure to evolve as he works. It was very impressive and skilful workmanship. Birds and animals seem to be his particular choice, perhaps the natural feel of the wood, makes wildlife an obvious starting point.
